The weekend of Dec. 12th, 1997 I went to go hang out in columbus Ohio to party for my birthday with some friends. About the week before I got the call and was asked if instead of hanging out at Denny's all weekend, if I wanted to crawl thru some caves in Kentucky. So after work on the 12th Me and Tom drove Down to Ohio to meet up with Jim, Jamie and Jen. We ate dinner, went to mejiers to get supplies and finally went to bed about 3am. 6am saturday we got up and headed for kentucky, 3 hours later we met up with Rick the tour guy. We had breakfest and drove out to the cave. I am not quite sure what the name of these cave are (I will check into and find out) but i do know that it is on private land and Rick is the only guy who is allowed to give tours in them. The entrance to this cave was a sink hole that formed in the guys backyard. It was kinda werid to be just walking thru the woods and have Rick go "Well here we are, whos going first?". and to just look down and see about a 15ft deep hole. Well i think now is a good time to start the Pictures.

This was after the first crawl which took about 20 minutes if I recall right. again it is Tom, Jen and me up front with Jim and Jaime in the background. Rick took this picture.

This is a shot of Jim at one of the Lower parts of the caves. We where pretty lucky since it had not rain in awhile everything was pretty dry. From What Rick said this carck where Jim is standing is sometimes filled all the way up with water. But Jim was down there cause Jen had drop her flashlight.
This was a area that after a bunch of smaller cave we had to crawl thru, it just opened up and while we were all resting Rick decided to climb up. So I went up after him. It was about 20ft or so off the main floor. Also Notice the 2 bats on the wall on the right, they were everywhere in the caves.
This is the same are as the one above but a little lower angle on it, same 2 bats. Notice the writing on the wall, well i guess once in awhile kids to get into them and do bad things. we found a bunch of beer cans in there too. Some people just can't leave things alone.
This is a sorta close up of a bat hanging out. It sorta looks whiteish, but really they are a brownish color. the white is moisture that collects on the and keeps them hydrated while they are resting fer the winter.
This was one of the cooler caves, just the shape of it and how smooth the walls where. Looks like something outta alien or a movie like that. There are 2 bats here, one above Jamie's head and one up and to the left of her.
This is Me very very tired, i don't recall when this was taken but I know it was after a hard crawl, climb. IT might been after My head light went out and i had to climb down a 10-15 foot drop only by Tom's light. The rocks behind look like more stuff outta aliens.
This was hrmmm, honestly I don't know, I am not even sure if i got the picture facing right. But it still looks neat.
This is a shot of a cave that went up for awhile, I am not sure but i don't think it is, what rick called the Secret chimmney. A place that he found about 2 years ago, but he been in these caves for 7 year. (if my memory is right)
This is taken 7 hours after the first picture i had up. We weren't under ground for all of that time. We went in about 11am and i think it was about 4pm we came out a big wide opening for about 10 minutes then went back inside and didnt get back to the house and cars till about 7pmish. But from left to right:the guy who house we are ats dog, Rick, Jen, Jamie, Jim, and Me. Jen look clean but she did have a shirt over that one while in the caves.
There are plans of doing this again at the end of Feb. I am hoping to do it again, just gotta make sure i can get work off. Well i hope you enjoyed these pics and my babbling about it.
